outdoor ficus bugs/larvae inside some leaves

Question
I repotted 4 mos. ago and moved my 3 large 8 ft)ficus outdoors.  Several(many) leaves in the tip new growth area are folded over, and shut together and are slightly curled and had thin long blackbugs about 1/16th in long and and what looked like white larvae inside. The plants are in indirect sunlight-sunlight 8 hours a day and are otherwise healthy. I have been pruning every several weeks as I am trying to gett all ficus the same size and shape. They are REALLY grwing well. I live in Houston in awsome heat and humidity.

Answer
Hi Sueanne,

My expertise is limited to indoor plants. The insect pests that you have found are specific to your area and I am not familiar with Houston. I suggest that you take a sample to a local garden center or landscaping company where they are familiar with local critters.

I assume you know that if you move your trees back inside they will she many of their sun-grown leaves. Let me know if you need more information on this.

I have also written an article on the care of indoor Ficus trees that I can email on request to my address below.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
