Ficus Bugs

Question
I recently bought an indoor ficus at an outdoor florist. Several leaves were folded over and had black specs and what looked like white larvae inside. Now that the tree is in my apartment, what can I do to eradicate these critters as safely as possible?

Answer
Hi Alyce,

Without seeing a photo I cannot be sure, but I believe that what you are seeing is a pest that is not commonly found on indoor Ficus trees and is not likely to remain or spread.

I suggest that you remove any leaves that have these critters and be alert for any new ones. However, I don't think you will see new ones as long as you keep your Ficus indoors.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
