ficus tree leaves turning brown

Question
I have several large ficus trees in pots on my patio.  They range from 6feet to 4 feet.  They have been living successfully here for the past 2 years.  I have just returned from vacation (they were looked after while I was gone)and they have all turned a yellow green color with many having brown leaves falling off.  The temp here in the summer is hot ranging from 105 to 110 farenehit.  These plants get sun until mid day and then shade in the after noon.  They are watered at this time of the year every other day.
What should I do as I see them all dieing in front of me.

Answer
Louise,

I have several ficus trees on myeast deck also. They do not mind the heat as ficus trees come from tropical jungles but they do mind watering. With that heat and that sun they need watered daily. Increase the water and they will come back. Remove the yellow and brown leaves they will not turn green again and if you remove them it will leave roomn for new leaves to gow. Also you will be able to see if it is getting new yellow leaves even after the increased watering, then we will know if there is another problem.

Also inspect the trees for insects such as scale or mealy bug. Email again if there are further problems. Good luck.
