Received a single hydrangea in a small pot as a gift a few days ago.  It is starting to turn brown around the edges of the flower petals and has wilted badly, the soil is .  What can I do to survive this plant?

The soil is what? Hydrangea plants need to be planted outdoors in the ground unless you live in Canada. They need a winter dormant period. They like a semi shady location that gets just a little sun each day. The plant should not be kept too wet.  Good luck.
