Potted Petunia

Question
I would like to salvage a potted petunia that my daughter got me for Mother's Day. I have carefully looked after this plant that requires a lot of watering daily. I would like to plant it in the ground. In reading what has been already written, it sounds like I need to plant it in full sun and well drained soil. Is there anything else that I should concern myself with in regards to planting this in the ground?

Answer
You pretty much have it covered. The key is the soil. Not only should it be composed of organic materials that drain well, but it must be fertile and have a neutral ph level of 7. The best way to make sure the soil meets the needs of the new plant is to use a fertile potting soil to backfill the hole once the petunias are planted. With ample sunshine and good soil, the plant should flourish.

Good luck, and have a great week.

Mike
