Banana plants 2

Question
hi,
It's me again i was just wondering how old and tall do banana plants have to be to grow bananas and also can you tell me what is the best rooting hormome to use where i live. I live in the uk, Wales, swansea.

Answer
Lauren,

It depends on what variety of banana plant you have? Do you know? If so give me the name and I will looke it up for you. If it is not a dwarf variety it could get up to 12 foot tall at maturity. Some dwarf varieties produce bananas at 4-5 foot tall. Some dwarf varieties never produce bananas. It all depends on the type.  Let me know if you have the variety name.

As for rooting hormone any powder type such as Rootone should be fine. Stronger varieties such as Hormex are needed for rooting evergreen cuttings. Good luck.
