what makes a peace Lilly loose the color on its leaves and then turn brown.. and die.. what am i doing wrong with this plant?

It is either not getting enough light, it needs light bright enough that you could read a paperback sitting where it sitts without additional light, but no sun.

Or, more likely, it is being overwatered. It needs to get very dry between waterings. The top 2 inches of soil need to feel dry before you water again. This time of year I water ming every 2-3 weeks. Because of the shorter days they use less water. Cut back on the water and the condition of you plant will slowly improve, be patient. Good luck.
