Aeschynanthus lobbianus

Question
My 6 in. lipstick plant has started to wrinkle in the leaves, like an old man's skin. It was a bit over watered.  Will it come back if I let it dry out?  What should I do to save it.

Answer
Donna,

Your Aeschynanthus lobbianus may come back if you let it dry out, it won't if you don't. In the winter it should be kept dryer than in the summer when it is actively growing.
Michigan State University has the following to say about this plant:

Type: House plant

Comments: Lipstick vine is an attractive flowering vine for
use in hanging pots. The common name refers to the
appearance of the flower buds (Vis. 1). The plant prefers
partial shade, particularly in summer. Potting mixes should
be moist and porous. Water freely spring through the fall
but keep the soil a little drier in winter. Fertilize
occasionally with a liquid fertilizer. The trailing stems
can be 2 feet long so may need pruning after flowering has
finished. The plant tolerates most house temperatures.
Ideal temperatures are 60 degrees at night but 10 to 15
degrees higher during the day.

Propagation: Propagation is by stem tip, or leaf bud,
cuttings rooted with bottom heat. Rooting will be slow.

If you have more questions after reading this feel free to write again. Good luck.
