tropical plant losing leaves

Question
I have a tropical plant. It is red and green leaves kind of long and thin shaped, the plant is about 3' tall and recently started losing its leaves one by one. Prior to this it was doing wonderful, new leaves even a new stock, i moved it at Christmas into another room and now it is horrible. what should I do. i  moved it back but it is still losing leaves.

Answer
Virginia,

It is a variety of croton which needs lots of sun. You need to move it to the sunniest south or west window you have. Keep it going till spring and then put it outside in full sun. At that time pinch out the growing tips and it will force it to send out side shoots lower into the plant. Be very careful to not overwater it. It need to get pretty dry between waterings. Too much water or too little light is why your croton is loosing leaves. Good luck.
