my philodendron

Question
Ihave been trying to grow my heartleaf philodevdron for over a year now ,in direct sunlight out of direct and everywhere else. I finally got it right , it was growing perfectly in a hanging basket from filtered light and the growing tip is broken,my feelings are really hurt over this .will my plant stop growing? the tip was put in water to root.I wiil start anothr one but i dont want my plant ti stop growing.

Answer
Donwea,

It will not stop growing. In fact it should cause it to send out 2 side shoots, 1 on each side of the old growing tip and become bigger faster. That is why pruning vining plants is always good for them. The branch out more and fill out the pot faster. You would be better off getting a bottle of rooting hormone at a garden center and dipping the broken off piece in that then make hole in the soil beside your original plant with a pencil and insert your cutting in the hole and firm the soil up around it. It will root in about a week and you will have 2 plants in your pot to fill it out even faster. Good luck.
