Large leaf Umbrella house plant

Question
The leaves of my 57" tall Umbrella plant in a 20" pot appear wrinkled.  Is it over-watered, or some other reason? The plant has been in this pot about 2 years.  The plant is located at the North large window.

Answer
Hi Wenyin,

Wrinkled leaves could be caused by either under or over watering or old age, if it is just the lower leaves.

A 20" pot is very large for a plant under 5 feet tall, or even under 7 feet, for that matter. Oversized pots almost always lead to inadvertently keeping the soil too moist because the extra soil retains moisture like a sponge for a long time.

The light is fine, so over watering is the most likely cause.
