Banana Tree for the winter

Question
I have my banana trees in pots outside in Kansas. It is time to bring them into my basement for the winter, but they are to tall now, about 10 to 12 feet. I saw in and answer to another person you said to cut it back. I will have only the stock. I also have new ones that started in the same pots that are small. Should I leave them alone now or put them in there own pot this winter.

Thank you,

Answer
Tom,

I would say you have no choice but to cut off the banana trees to store them in your basement for the winter. I would not separate the side shoots from the parent plants till spring. I highly reccommend that you look at the following site for more info on raising bananas in your home.

Good luck.
