hibiscus plants & Alstromeria for the winter

Question
I put my Alstromeria with my hibiscus plants and they are in my garage do i keep watering them or do i let them go dormant for the winter? when u let plants go dormant do u still water them. my garage is heated by the way too and we keep it at 60

Answer
Hi Kathleen,
At 60癋, the plants won't go dormant.  The hibiscus will go semi dormant but the alstroemeria will probably keep growing.  So, they will need some kind of light.  Set the plants underneath a 40-watt shoplight for the winter and they should be fine.  Water the plants once a week and don't feed them until after the last frost.  I hope this helps.
Tom
