Umbrella & Jade Trees

Question
I have recently started bringing plants to work with me. They absolutely love the lighting at my desk. I have a natural Light - light bulb. Both the jade and Umbrella (and violet too) are growing rapidly. I am wondering if cutting them back would be a good idea to keep them at a size that's not unreasonable for a small cubicle. The umbrella tree in particular is getting out of control. I would like the jade to stay short and possibly branch out at the top rather than one stalk growing tall and skinny.

Answer
Carrie,

Yes, I would very much encourage you to prune them. Get a good pair of pruning shears, I like Fiskars. Prune them both back on a regular basis and they will bush out much better for you. You can also get rooting hormone and dip the cuttings in it and put them in new pots of soil. They should root in about 3 weeks and you can give them to your co-workers and you will be very popular and known as the plant lady yourself! Good luck.
