Plant ID and Facts

Question
I purchased this plant a few months ago and it has been doing fine.  Recently, however, the edges of the leaves have started to turn brown.  I'm not sure what kind it is so I don't know if it needs a lot of sun/water or not.  It hasn't been getting a lot of water and only minimal light but it was doing very well.  Until recently.  I want to correct the problem but I'm not sure what to change.

Answer
Rebecca,

Your plant is a Beaucarnea Recurvata also known as a Ponytail Palm. It loves the sun and lack of sun is probably your problem. It does not need a lot of water, that large base stores water so your watering is fine, just move it to a very sunny position. In fact as long as night temperatures are above 50 degrees Farenheit you can put it outdoors in full sun. You will make it very happy. Good luck.
