too much rain: mold on plants

Question
I live in SW CT near too far from the shore-and closer to a river.  This June it rained 26 days out of 30.  We've had even more rain after a short dry spell and it's expected to rain for a couple more days.  I have lots of mini gardens all over our yard.
We've been unindated with mold on our plants along with more bugs and insects than I've ever seen before.  It started with the peonies and then the roses and now even on the lazy susans, and onto many more plants.
I've cut down the roses and peonies and gave almost everything some rose systemic stuff that feeds them and helps with diseases(?).  The hydrangeas seem to be holding out a bit better except for one.
Please tell me I don't have to destroy everything.  This is a problem for most of the gardens around here.
Do you have any suggestions?  Someone said a diluted spray of bleach???
Thank you-
peggys

Answer
Peggy,

I answer houseplant questions, your questions would be better submitted to a person who answers questions on annuals, perrrenials, or landscaping. Or you could call your local county extension office. I can tell you absolutely do not use bleach on plants. Chlorine is not healthy for any plant, it is a poison. It may kill the mold but it will also weaken the plant. You have used a systemic fungicide. That was good. If you need to do something more spray the mold with generic Lysol spray. It will kill mold and will not harm the plants. Other than that call your county extension office for advice. It will be in the phone book under county offices. Good luck.
