Help with a plant ID

Question

my plant
Hi!  Ive had this plant for three years and while ive kept it alive, it hasn't been easy and more times than not it isn't looking too good, as is the case now.  Any idea what it is and how to care for it.  It has multiple stems that look like bamboo but are thinner with leaves atop them.  Thanks in advance!

Answer
Dave,

I am sorry, I cannot ID your plant in it's current conditions. I can, however, tell you that I believe that the problem is too much water. Roots of all house plants need to breathe between waterings. House plants are tropicle plants, they are not swamp plants. Make sure that it drys out well between waterings. It should feel dry on the soil surface for at least 4 days before you water it again. Then cut the amount of water you give it in half so it is barely moist. An hour after you water it you should empty any excess water out of the drain tray so it does not rot the roots which is what I suspecthas happened. Good luck.

Darlene
