angel wing begonia

Question
I have a 3 ft plant started from a cutting about 18 months ago, growing like crazy, good color and markings, in it's second bloom...overall a great success...but recently leaves are turning dry and curling at the tip and this moves up the edge of the "wing" and I am losing leaves...it's not an old plant and I love it...any ideas?  (potted - inside)

Answer
Hi Marie,

The symptoms suggest that the soil is getting too dry between waterings or your water is too hard or you are fertilizing too much. If your tap water is on the hard side, use filtered or distilled instead.

Three feet is too tall for a potted Angelwing Begonia. It is time to prune it back to a height of 6-12 inches. This will help rejuvenate the plant and eliminate the leggy look resulting from the recent leaf loss.

What do you mean by "(potted - inside)?"

I have written an article on pruning that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who sends a request to me at [email protected].

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
