Norway Spruce fertilizer

Question
Rick,                                                I recently just planted a row of Norway Spruce for a wind break. Since then I have been searching for the proper fertilizer and care tips on how to make my investment last. So if you could tell me what makes a good fertilizer I would be greatly appreciative.
                            Thank you,

Answer
my favorite evergreen fertilizer has always been holytone by Espoma. once in the spring and again in the fall sprinkle 1-2 coffee cupfulls under the drip line of the tree. the rain will do the rest. it's good for most acid loving soil plants(dogwoods, hollies, etc.). buy it at your local garden center/nursery. it comes in 5 lb, 10 lb,
25 lb, 35 lb, and 50 lb bags. it's organic based and will make all the difference in the healthy appearance of your evergreen plants.
as they grow try to keep all the norway spruce about the same size & shape when they are younger. they will look uniform when older. during the holidays (november/december) prune back the long branches to keep them coned shaped. use the branches to decorate with.
good luck
rick
