Question
Recently my neighbor let her grandson drive their golf cart (not sure why because the child is about 5-6 years old) but anyway he ran my poor Leland Cypress down. Amazingly enough he did not break the tree. He did scrape the bark off in about a 12 inch strip near the base of the tree. I would love to know if my Leland will make it. The tree is about 6 1/2 - 7 feet tall.
Please let me know. I was just heartbroken :(

Young trees will recover if they have not been broken off. It should not have any problem beyond a scar. I would however spray the area with an insecticide  to keep insects from boring into the trunk. Check with your local garden/ nursery type store and get an insecticide for borers this will prevent any attack to the new wound and give the tree time to heal.
