Aleppo Pine

Question

Bent sprouts
Last week I noticed the tips of my Aleppo Pine Tree were all bent over in one direction. I soaked it through a soaker hose for 4 hours and the next day they were all straight up like normal. Last night I watered again the same way (weekly) and this morning they were all bent over again in the same direction. (see pic) Yesterday was a very windy (50 mph gusts) day here in Tucson, Az. and they are all bent INTO the direction the wind was coming from. (Southwest)

I hope you can explain this since the tree was planted on the first Christmas my wife came here from Russia and we'd hate for anything to go wrong with it. It has a fence around it so no animals can get to it. Thank you.

Answer
The tip of the branches are the new growth for the year and are still flexible and composed of mostly water. IF the water is decreased they will bend. As they terminals age they will become more woody and can hold up . With the amount of growth you are getting I would say the tree is healthy. Since the tree is in a dry situation I would continue watering it until the ends turn from the green to a more wood appearance. I would try watering every other day and see if this will speed up the aging process.
