browning pine trees

Question
We recently planted 12 long needle pine trees along our fence (May). They were doing fine but recently one has turned completely brown and many of the others are turning yellow then brown starting from the inside of the tree out. We have a sprinkler system that goes on every other day.  Also we did not mulch. The trees get a lot of sun and up until now have been doing great.
What happened and can they be saved? Thanks for your input!

Answer
I would say they are in shock--the time of the year to plant trees is Nov. --March. Trees planted in the hot summer months tend to go into shock from the heat. If the outer needles are still green then it is just shedding the inner needles due to the stress. I would give them time and see if they pull through thsi winter.
