My sarracenia seeds

Question
I have received 20 Sarracenia leucophylla seeds from in the mail.  how do I put them in my carnivorous bog garden?  Can I just leave them in the bog garden for the winter so in the spring they can spring up?  I don't think stratification is necessary since winter is so close.

Answer
Hi Jake,

You will need to stratify Sarracenia seeds for proper germination.  Stratification just means that the seeds need to experience cold damp conditions for several months.  Sowing them outdoors in your bog garden is the easiest method of doing so.  That's how we germinate our seeds.  We simply sow them on peat moss and place them outside for the winter.

Good growing!
