Flopping Sarracenia pitchers

Question
The spring pitchers on some of my Sarracenia are flopping, as they often do, and summer/fall pitchers are growing.

Should I cut off those pitchers before they dry up? They all seem to have lots of bugs in them.

Answer
Hi Bill,

If the flopping pitchers are still fully green it's beneficial to leave them to finish absorbing nutrients from the bugs in them.  Cut them off in winter when they turn brown.  If you are trying to display the plants, you can cut them off to make the plants look better.  It could have a minor effect on next year's growth, but some species are so vigorous you probably wouldn't notice.

Good Growing!
