hot!

Question
hi, im a carnivorous plant entusiast from Mexico and i have this friend in Merida, Yucatan who wants to grow carnivorous plants, the problem is that temperatures in that area are at minimum 33C?(91F) and can be as high as 43C?(109F) at day. The temperature at night is 26C?- 27C?(79F - 81F). The humidity can be as high as 83%. it usually is between 55% and 66% (i think). I was wondering if you could tell me which species of carnivorous plants could be grown there, i was thinking of lowland nepenthes.
Thank you for you time, Alonso

Answer
Hi Alonso,

Yes, you can grow any of the lowland Nepenthes with relative ease in your climate.  Consider the following:
Nepenthes bicalcarata
Nepenthes ampullaria
Nepenthes gracilis
Nepenthes merrilliana
Nepenthes alata
Nepenthes khasiana

Other species you can grow with ease in that sort of environment are:
Nepenthes sanguinea
Nepenthes truncata
Nepenthes maxima
Nepenthes ventricosa

Of course there are other species, but these are the ones easier to obtain.

Good growing!
