Muluensis x lowii care

Question
Hello,
How do i care for nepenthes muluensis x lowii.
1.How much light do they need?
2.Can they be grown in LL conditions if misted it twice a day.?(Night and early in the morning)
3.Can any HL nepenthes be grown this way?

Answer
Hi Ali,

Nepenthes muluensis x lowii is native to the upper parts of the mountain.  They prefer lots of light, moderate humidity and constantly cool conditions.  They don't grow well in lowland settings.  If the temperature is constantly warm, the plant will produce smaller leaves and fewer pitchers, if any.  If the temperature is too warm all the time, the plant will eventually exhaust itself and die.

This plant and other ultra highland species can tolerate warm days as long as the nights are cool (below 65癋).  With some Nepenthes, chilly nights (45?55癋) are necessary.  This includes N. rajah and N. lowii.

So if you can keep the temperature even at 72癋 (both day and night), you might do well.  Otherwise, if your daytime temperatures are significantly warmer than that, then you'll need to find a way to get the temperature down at night.

Good growing!
