Breeding mosquitos in watering trays

Question
Hi, I have several sarracenia and flytrap plants growing side by side in the same big watering tray.  My question is how do I prevent mosquitoes from breeding in the watering tray?  My idea was to release fish in the tray, that will eat the larvae.  In the past have mosquitoes been a problem for you guys?

Answer
Hi JJ,

Use mosquito dunks.  It's a product that contains a bacteria that kills mosquito larvae.  The bacteria, however, doesn't harm mammals, birds, fishes or humans.  It specifically targets mosquito larvae.  You can find it at many garden centers and hardware stores.

Another option is to empty your water trays every week.  This works well if you have a small collection.

Good growing!
