Question
Hi I have my flava, hooded pitcher, purple pitcher, and vft
in black 1 gallon plastic pots. I took clear plastic 1
gallon water jugs and cut them in half and drained the water
out..the one gallon pots fit in these jugs perfectly..I fill
these to the brim with distilled water every other day..but
when i go to check the water is prety much all gone..I know
the plant is sucking alot of it up but since it is so sunny
im guessing alot of it is being evaporated..Should I be
using a different color tray to minimize evap..how often do
you guys have to refil your trays..or barrels

Answer
Hi Matt,

When the weather warms up, it's not unusual to have to water your plants frequently.  In some instance, it could be daily, depending on your climate.  That's just par for the course when growing these plants.

If you're finding that you need to water frequently, you could increase the size of your water trays.  You can use cat litter pans.  Another option is pans used to mix cement.  You can find them at any hardware store.  If you have the space, you can also use plastic kiddie pools.  That's what we use at our nursery.

Good growing!
