flowering drosera capensis

Question

flower
I went to check on my CPs..and i noticed on my Drosera
Capensis flower stalk the top flower is showing purple on
the tiny opening..i thought that they flowered from the
bottom up..this looks like its starting from the top..is
that bad?

Answer
Hello Matthew,

Drosera capensis, and many other plants, will open the flowers that mature first on the stalk. As the stalk grows, it curls upwards and eventually straightens out, each flower along the length opening in turn as it comes up along the curve. Your plant's flower stalk looks just fine to me.

Don't worry, your plant "knows" what it is doing.
