Fish Food?

Question
Hello

I have some Sundew seedlings of all types and way to small to catch the smallest insect in my backyard.  I was wondering if I can feed them Freeze-Dried Bloodworms for fish!  They're produced by Top Fin and the ingredients are Freeze dried Bloodworms (Insect Larvae).

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Justin,

You definitely can feed them fish food products.  The devil is in the details with this, however.  You need to be very careful not to give them too much, or you'll get mold forming which can kill your plants.  Also, it's incorrect to assume that there are not tiny bugs that sundews seedlings can catch.  Fungus gnats are a common victim for small sundews along with springtails and other tiny insects.  We often wait until ours are a little bigger than seedling size, then fertilize with a very weak foliar spray.  That too, however, needs to be done with a light hand; too much = no more plants.

Good Growing!
