pyrethrin

Question
Hey Guys, I have a Flava and some fly traps that are just starting to come out of dormancy. There in full sun in peat perlite sitting in water. My question is I have a bottle of pyrethrin the product is called "don't bug me". Is it ok to spray this all over the plant and soil surface and how often should I do this? I don't believe they're being attacked by anything so this is more for preventive. Thanks

Jason

Answer
Hi Jason,

Preventative spraying with pyrethrins won't really do you any good.  It breaks down within 24 hours in the presence of UV light.  Save it for when you really do see a bug problem.  Personally, I prefer to just keep an eye on the plants, then go to chemical warfare if I can't remove the bugs manually.  In the nursery I try not to spray unless we actually see aphids present.

Good Growing!
