Mold on my Heliamphora soil

Question
Mold
Mold
I've noticed what looks like mold on the soil of my Heliamphoras.  I've tried using Safer Anti-Fungus and it had no affect.  Is it harmful to them and what can I do about it?

Answer
Hi Jack,

The Safer sulfur based fungicide won't kill fungus but it does inhibit it growth by making the environment inhospitable for fungi.

With this kind of mold it's best just to pluck it off, make sure you have good ventilation, and top-water the pots lots.  The circulation helps to keep this stuff at bay.  It's not usually harmful unless it builds up around the crown of the plant.  I also see lots of moss, so it may be time to consider a transplant.  http://www.growcarnivorousplants.com/Articles.asp?ID=268

Good Growing!
