What is this

Question
Stalks
Stalks
I was pulling grass out of my Ladies in Waiting when I saw something else growing.  Before I cut it or try to pull it I just wanted to make sure it is nothing that is supposed to be there.  This is the first full season that I have had them.  I got them last summer.  I am referring to the thick green stalks.  This plant did not flower yet this year.

Answer
Hi Patricia,

That is a type of sedge grass that often comes in long-fiber sphagnum moss.  It's evil!  Pull it out.  If it gets too established in a pot the only way to get rid of it is to repot the plant and pull all the roots away from the other plant.  Definitely don't let it go to seed.

Good Growing!
