Question
I don't know the name of the plant but it has broad long green leaves, the flower has a long stem with a lot of small purple flowers forming a ball.
My question is:  the plant leaves were turning yellow and dying. I noticed a grainy-powdery white substance deep between the leaves.  can u help me?

Hi, how r u? There r many plants that sound n look like that (rock jasmine]or certain azaleas shrubs look like that 2!It sounds like they have a insect called scale bug.This bug appears 2 look like white cotton powder in between leaves on some plants.This would can make leaves die back as it is left untreated.Go 2 the garden center by your house n ask 4 a hort oil or a product that the label states that it kills scale bug n read label treat n treat again if still there in 10 days or so!!!!
