Robellini palm dying

Question
I have a 20 year old robellini that had 4 arms. During Wilma one of the arms was injured but appeared to have recovered.  However, in the last few months 2 arms suddenly rotted and lost their crowns.  Is this age related or a disease?  Can I save the remaining 2 arms and should I cut off the dead arms at the base?  THANK YOU!

Answer
I am not too familiar with tropical palms, but sounds like the arms that are dead should be removed to prevent movement of any disease organisms into the healthy arms.  Age could be a factor, but wounds caused by wind could also be the culprit.  Better to have a smaller specimen than none at all.  Good Luck.
