Mass Cane

Question

Mass Cane!
David.  I have a beautiful Mass Cane plant (indoor)that, I think is affected by a fungus.  One of the cane's top has become very soft and the leaves attached to that cane have turned yellow, and brown, and dying. This is my second one with the same problem. I don't know what is causing this.  I get them home and they are fine for a while.   Please advise, how I can save this plant.

Answer
It is most likely an environmental problem.  If possible, cut off the affected leaves.  Move the plant to a more humid place in the home.  If necessary, mist the plant with water every day.  Most house plant problems are due to low humidity.  You might set the plant outside in a  medium light setting and see if it performs better there.  Not too many diseases affect the cane family of plants.  I hope this helps to get the plant on the road to health.  Good Luck.
