Mass Cane flowers

Question
Will,  We have a Mass Cane plant that has produced a large amount of flowers, although the fragrance is nice it is becoming overwhelming.  Will it hurt or damage the plant to cut those flowers off the plant?

Answer
Hi Dave,

Indeed, the aroma of Corn Plant flowers can be a bit overwhelming. The entire flower stem (called a spike) can be cut off at any time without any harm to the plant. Next time it flowers, you may want to remove the stem before the tiny buds open and start to overwhelm you with their aroma.

I have written an article on Corn Plant care that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who sends a request to me at [email protected].

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
