gardenia problems

Question
I have a gardenia plant that has very special meaning to my family.  We are having a couple of issues that we would like to find a cure for.  The first issue is that some of the leaves are turning brown and falling off.  Some of the leaves are green and falling off.  The plant still buds.  We have also noticed some small white bug like things on some leaves.  There are also these white growths on the branches.  This is a potted Gardenia that we would really like to save make well again.  Please if you have any suggestions we are open to them, let us know.

Answer
Hi Nicole,  You can rid the plant of bugs with Pure Neem Oil spray from Dyna Gro.  It is organic and does not wash off.  Dried ends on the leaves could mean fertilizer burn, hope you use a slow release fertilizer protecting your plants from this problem.  Possibly needs more water if in the ground.  If in a pot you must empty the water from the dish under it 15 minutes after watering.  kathy
