droopy yucca

Question
Hi, my name is Helen and I need your help

I rescued a yucca plant from my office a few months ago it was that pot bound that there was hardly any soil left in the pot I repotted it in a much larger pot at first it wilted but then seemed to get a second wind and now is a gorgeous plant, 2 weeks ago I rescued a second yucca (from the same office, i thinking of buying them some plastic plants!!) this one is in a proper sorry state it was also very pot bound I have repotted it my main concern is it has 3 branches from the same main stem and all of them have fallen over, I assume the tops have gotten to heavy for the stem and due to not being watered forever (literally over a year) the stems seem to have wizened i have bought some garden canes and used them to support the branches where they should be, the leaves on the stems are amazingly still quite green, I was basically wondering am I doing the right thing ? Is it likely to be diseased? can it realistically recover? will the stems firm and become able to support themselves again? If I need to cut it down where should I start?

The leaves have drooped like on the first plant I rescued it just looks so ill, please help, I can send pics if that helps

Thanks in advance, Helen

Answer
Hi Helen, sounds like your yucca needs a hair cut.  Trimming back the too heavy branches will help the branch become studier.  Yuccas can go a long time without a lot  of water.  You can send a picture and that will help me tell you where to prune it.  kathy
