lady palm

Question
My lady palm has yellow mushrooms growing in it and yellow area's on top of the soil. Do you have any suggestions as to how to get rid of this problem, am I over watering? I also have many shoots that have dried out and seem dead as well as leaves with brown tips. It seems as though some of my stalks have also died off. Please Help!

Answer
Hi Kim, Yes you are over watering it.  The mushrooms like a more moist soil and the brown tips on the leaves are also an indication of too much water.  Is it is the ground?  If in a container you must dump out the water in the dish water catches in within 15 minutes or it will cause root rot.  If in the ground make sure you cut down on watering it to maybe every week or sometimes two weeks if it has rained.  kathy
