my mature lilac appears to have wood worm . Is this likely ?
is there anything i can easily do - a wooden fence is supposed to be replaceing the hedge that was until recently covering the 'wood worm'

Are you speaking of an insect that bores into the wood of many trees? I am not familiar with the term "wood worm-sorry. Many trees can get borers that tunnel into the tree. Trees can often "tolerate" these for many years. They are difficult to control once they get inside tree,
