termites

Question
How come termites don't attack trees?

Answer
Termites live on "dead" wood cells. In a living tree this wood is on the inide protected by the bark and living tissue (cambium layer). Termites will feed on the tree's inter wood IF they have an opening to get into the wood. There are some termite species in some parts of the world that will feed on living trees.
