dracaena fragrans massangeana

Question
Hello,

I was given a plant that was going to be thrown away because it had a white moldy looking substance on the top and bottom of the leaves along with where the leaves come off of stem. I am wondering what this is, is it just mold or could it be spider mites?  Also, how do get rid of this and bring the plant back to a healthy state?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Tiffany

Answer
Hi Tiffany,  Could be mealy bugs and they also can get fungus.  I would suggest checking into Atomic Grow to bring the plant to health so bugs go elsewhere.  Also if the leaves are turning yellow it is not enough water and black on the tips is too much.  They do not need a lot of water and you may want to set it out in the shade to get some healthy rain water on it if you are keeping it in the house.  kathy
