Question
I'm having my first garden party in 25 years and just as I'm planting all my beds discovered 4 FOUR Woodchucks on my deck. They finished all I planted and are working on the ones I haven't gotten to yet. They live under my ground level deck and porch so have an area of about 15 x 35 well protected. In the past my mate has killed one a year but now he has 2 jobs. Atleast 3 are small enough not to even notice the 2x3 wire fence around the vegetables. Peppers, Zinnias, Petunias, Giant Marigolds, Pansies, Gloriosa Daisies, Forget Me Nots demolished.
I bought HINDER today and sprayed the daylights out of everything. So far they've left the tomatoes alone. Cukes are in a huge pot on top of a garbage can.
1-Do I have to put everything in raised boxes [how high?] or is there some way to get rid of them?
2-Hard to find holes as they are under deck and porch and couldn't close them off.
3-A trapper once caught squirrels and possums.
4-They don't bother with the Have a Heart trap which used to work on baby ones. HELP!

Answer
I am not sure from your statement but I trust that the trapper was brought in to catch the woodchucks. Do I have that right? First, learn how to hire a qualified professional animal damage controller at http://icwdm.org  click solutions then professional services.  There is detailed information on what to look for.

second. under solutions, click problem wildlife then "mammals" and you will see a link for woodchucks or groundhogs.   There will be information there on how to control them.

I wouldn't have recommended repellents. Fencing or removal would have been the best choice.

Raising the plant boxes 3 feet off the ground on a pole (metal) would work fine to prevent woodchucks from climbing.

Don't secure the deck area until you are certain the woodchucks have been removed.  But you don't secure holes under the deck, you secure the deck. Exclusion information is also avaialable on the site.

You have so many questions intertwined in this posting that I am having to have you visit the site, do some reading then write back or call me ( my number is on the site) for more specific information once you have the appropriate background.
