Something growing on my crab apple tree

Crab Apple Leaves Hi. I recently noticed something growing on the under side of the leaves on my crab apple tree and I have no idea what they are?!?? These "growths" are on about 70% of the leaves!
Can you identify them?

The photo is a bit too dark to see clearly but I don't think this is an insect or mite. It looks more like a fungal disease of some kind. You might want to re-submit this question to the section about plant diseases or horticulture. Sorry I can't help.
