seeds

Question
Hi - I have a very simple question....does some part of the plant, or seed HAVE TO/BY NECESSITY die in order for the seed to grow into a new plant. thanks Pete

Answer
Hi Pete;
I have never heard that or read it.
I doubt it is right, it doesn't sound logical.
Roses put out seeds, and they don't die. Other plants do too.
I just gathered seeds from my chives, and the plants are very much alive. Grass puts out seeds and doesn't die.
If you don't mow it at all, it will put out seeds in a couple of months, and will still be green and thriving.
Charlotte
