black fungus on ground

Question
I have over two acres of little black slimy balls all over my yard and now in my vegetable garden.I cannot grow vegetables as they are all stunned growth.It is now spreading in the whole neighborhood. We live in the country on sandy soil.These black balls become slimy and slippery. I have slipped and fallen several times

Answer
Hi Frank;
I have never seen a fungus like you describe, but I can't imagine what it could be other than a fungus.
Horticultural corn meal will kill fungus, of all kinds.
For one as severe as the one you describe, I would use the larger dose of 20 pounds per 1000 sq.ft.
Apply and water it in..
Sounds like your area may be getting an overabundance of rain like my area has.
I live in North Texas, and it is still raining. We haven't had more than a dozen rain free days since early April.
