Grub Worm Problem

Question
I have San Augustine grass and have a great deep, green lawn until this year.  I had someone tell me I had a fungus and treated for it and didn't seem to work.  Come to find out it was grub worms.  As I was raking the grass just peels back.

What to do?  Will this come back?  What do I need to use to rid them?

Answer
Grubs in St. Augustine are the larvae of the May Beetle or June Bug, and are a bit difficult to control. The feed just below the surface and it is often too late to do much once they are detected.

Luckily, they are a seasonal issue and will come and go sporadically, so you don't have a permanent problem here if left untreated.

If you want to get some control over them, your only option is using an insecticide in the late Summer if they are detected. It has to be applied, then immediately drenched into the soil with lots of water. If you don't drench it in, the insecticide won't get down to where the bugs are.

Good luck!
