weeds in centipede

Question
I put in a new centipede lawn 3 summers ago.  Most of it is doing well.  One area where it was necessary to fill in with soil is now overtaken with little creeping weeds.  The first summer the centipede came up lush.  I imagine the soil there is not acid enough.  How do I fix this?  There is plenty of sun.

Answer
There could be a dozen different explanations as to why the grass isn't doing well in that area, but it does sound as if the soil is one of the primary culprits.

I would recommend first that you get a soil test to find out if the pH is indeed off. If you call a few local garden centers, you should find one that can help you do this. Once you know whether or not the soil is the problem, you can then decide whether you need to amend it or just try again with new centipede grass.

Good luck. Let me know how the soil test goes.
