Patio edge drainage

Question
Between our patio & the curbing surrounding our lawn is a two foot wide space that currently has decomposed granite with pavers on top.  There is a slight slope towards the house.  I am trying to figure out a way increase the drainage in that two foot space so we don't have water pooling on the patio.  Our soil is clay in consistency.

Answer
Hello:

The best solution would be to regrade the slope toward the curb but if that is not possible than various drainage devices should be considered. I would think about using a trench drain, catch basin, french drain or a soakaway.

With the patio sloping toward the house, concentrating solely on the area near the curb will still not adequately address the drainage issue because water will still pool there. You need to intercept the water at various low points and have it either piped to a disposal point or soak it into the ground below.
